Mobile salon vans for Windsor and Essex County
ProVanWorks builds mobile salon vans at our shop in Langley, BC, and delivers them to lash artists, nail technicians and stylists in Windsor and across Essex County. Windsor sits at the southern tip of Ontario, across the Detroit River from Detroit, and its long, humid summers make air conditioning as important in a salon van here as heat.
How does Windsor's climate shape a lash or salon van?
Windsor's summers run long, hot and humid, with Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair adding moisture to the air. Inside a closed van with a lamp on and a client lying still for a full set, the temperature climbs quickly without cooling. The front fan in a ProVanWorks salon van runs the air conditioning, which cools the room and takes some of the moisture out of the air. Lash adhesive reacts to humidity, so ask your adhesive maker what range they recommend and tell us, and we'll place the bed where the airflow from the two fans helps most.
Winters are milder than in most of Ontario, but they are wet. Temperatures hover around freezing, freezing rain and slush are common, and road salt on the 401 and the E.C. Row Expressway gets into every corner of a vehicle. ProVanWorks still insulates a Windsor van in the walls, roof and floor, thicker than the roughly 16 mm (5/8 inch) used in the Lower Mainland, and the insulation also keeps out street noise during a quiet lash appointment. A small diesel, gas or electric heater under the seat warms pipes in the floor and walls and heat exchangers, a thermostat holds the setting, and the heater runs with the engine off.
Where do mobile lash and beauty services work in Windsor-Essex?
In Windsor, many clients live in houses with driveways in neighbourhoods such as South Windsor, Riverside and East Windsor, and downtown has apartments and offices where the van works from the curb. LaSalle, Tecumseh and Lakeshore are suburban, and further out, Amherstburg, Kingsville and Leamington are small towns surrounded by farms and greenhouses, where a salon can be a long drive away.
Wineries along the Lake Erie North Shore host weddings through the summer and fall, and a lash, nail or hair van parked at the venue can get a wedding party ready on site. Seniors' residences, shift workers and parents at home are steady clients year-round. Check with the City of Windsor, or with the town you work in, about street parking and setting up before you book regular stops.
What water and power setup suits a Windsor salon van?
A ProVanWorks lash van usually needs only a hand-wash sink with running hot water, from a small fresh water reservoir to a grey water tank. That leaves more space for client seating and cabinets. If you also offer pedicures or hair washing, the tanks grow to suit, and sizes are set for each build. The lash van page shows a typical layout.
Air conditioning through a long Windsor summer draws real power, so tell us how many hours a day you expect to cool the van when we size the battery bank. The batteries charge at Level 2 EV chargers through a J1772 inlet, or from shore power through the 50 A inlet (30 A also available) or the 20 A, 120 V inlet. Solar panels on the roof are an add-on that suits sunny summer days at a venue, and a generator is available for long days far from an outlet.
What rules apply to a mobile salon in Windsor?
Ontario regulates "personal service settings". Windsor and Essex County are served by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, so check with them about what applies to a mobile lash, nail or hair business before you book clients.
How does a salon van get from Langley to Windsor?
Windsor is more than 4,000 km from the ProVanWorks shop by road, at the far western end of the 401, past Toronto and London. Delivery is quoted per build: we drive the van to Windsor, ship it on a vehicle transport carrier, or you pick it up in Langley. See delivery across Canada for how each option works.
Frequently asked questions
Can I design my own salon van for Windsor-Essex?
Yes. ProVanWorks builds to your own specifications, or you can start from one of our already designed systems and change it for your services and Windsor's climate. See all our mobile salon vans.
Is a salon trailer a good choice for winery weddings?
A mobile beauty salon trailer can suit a team that sets up at one venue for the day, if you have a truck to tow it. For several house calls a day across the city and county, a van is quicker to move and park.
How do I get a price for a salon van delivered to Windsor?
Email info@provanworks.com with your services, how long your appointments run, what you plug in and the parts of Windsor-Essex you cover. We reply with a layout and a quote.
