Mobile business vans

Custom mobile business vans

A ProVanWorks business van is a cargo van fitted out as a working room for your business, with a seating area for your client, a work area for you, and its own heat, power and lighting. We build these vans at our shop in Langley, BC, on the same insulated, heated platform we use for our mobile grooming vans. Instead of renting a storefront, you drive the room to your clients.

Why run a business from a van instead of a storefront?

A mobile business van lets you work without a storefront lease or the utility bills of a second location, and it brings the appointment to your client's door. A ProVanWorks van gives you a warm, clean, well-lit room on wheels.

A van has costs of its own. You pay for the build once, then for fuel or charging, insurance and maintenance as you drive. Rent comes due every month whether your chair is full or empty. The fair way to decide is to put your current or planned lease next to a build quote and your expected running costs, and see which fits the way you work. We will send you the quote for that comparison.

Going to the client also means people who do not drive, parents with young children and residents of seniors' homes can book you at home or at work.

What comes in every ProVanWorks business van?

Every ProVanWorks business van is built on the same platform as our grooming vans, and we use top-quality products and materials in each build. The core systems are:

The base van can be diesel, gas or electric. Every layout has two zones: a seating area where your client sits or waits, and a work area set up around the job you do. Add-ons include side covers (awnings) and solar panels. Solar suits a business van that sits parked at one site for most of the day, because the panels can top up the battery bank between charger visits.

Can the cargo area be split into a service room and a seating area?

Yes. ProVanWorks can divide the cargo area of a business van in two. The back half becomes a closed room for your service, such as an eye exam, a vet visit or eyelash extensions. The front half, beside the side door, becomes a seating area for customers or a wall of storage cabinets.

With this layout, customers come in through the side door and wait in the front while you work with a client in the back. The service room can have a sink with running hot water, and the battery bank and water tanks stay in the utility area at the very back of the van.

Which businesses does ProVanWorks build vans for?

ProVanWorks builds business vans for personal services, health care and animal care, along with our main product, the grooming van:

If your business is not on this list, email us anyway. We plan the seating area and work area around what you do.

How does a business van stay warm in a Canadian winter?

A ProVanWorks business van stays warm because the cargo area is insulated and the heat comes from the floor and the walls. The small heater under the seat warms the pipes running through the floor and walls, and heat exchangers move warm air into the room. The thermostat holds the temperature you set, which matters when a client sits still for an hour. Our page on cold-weather design explains each part of the heating system and how to choose between diesel, gas and electric heat.

How do I get a quote for a custom business van?

Email info@provanworks.com. Tell us what kind of business you run, how many clients you see in a day, which equipment needs power, whether you need water, and whether you want a diesel, gas or electric van. We reply with a layout and a price for your build. ProVanWorks builds in Langley and ships vans to clients across Canada and to customers in the United States.

Can I get a business trailer instead of a van?

Yes. ProVanWorks also builds custom work trailers with the same features available as in our business vans, including a seating area and a work area. A trailer suits a business that sets up at one site for the day or already owns a truck that can tow it.

Frequently asked questions

Is a business van cheaper than renting a storefront?

It depends on your lease and how you work. A van replaces monthly rent with a one-time build plus running costs such as fuel or charging, insurance and maintenance. Compare your lease against a ProVanWorks build quote to see which suits your business.

Do your business vans use the same platform as your grooming vans?

Yes. ProVanWorks business vans use the same insulation, heating, fans, battery bank and water system as our grooming vans. The seating area, work area and cabinets are planned around your business.

Can you build a business van for a client outside BC?

Yes. ProVanWorks builds every van at the Langley shop and ships to clients across Canada and in the United States.
