Mobile lash vans
A ProVanWorks mobile lash van is a heated, insulated cargo van fitted out as a quiet, private lash studio, with a reclining lash bed, a lamp over the work, a hand-wash sink with hot water and battery power for your lamp and tools. We build each van at our shop in Langley, BC, for lash artists who work with clients at home, at work and at events, and we deliver across Canada and to the United States.
What goes inside a mobile lash van?
A ProVanWorks lash van puts a closed service room in the back half of the cargo area, with seating or storage by the side door. The drawing at the top of this page shows a common layout. The build can include:
- A reclining lash bed, so the client can lie back with eyes closed for a full set.
- A seat for you at the client's head, with room for your elbows and a tray.
- A lamp over the work, and close-spaced ceiling lights.
- A hand-wash sink with running hot water and a soap pump.
- Cabinets for lash trays, adhesive, tweezers and towels.
- Customer seating in the front half, by the side door.
A lash appointment can run two hours, so we plan the bed, your seat and your reach together. Tell us how you work and whether you also offer brows or nails.
Does a lash van need water?
A lash van needs much less water than a hair or nail van, but most lash artists want a hand-wash sink. A ProVanWorks lash van can have a sink with running hot water fed from a fresh water reservoir in the utility area, draining to a grey water tank under the floor. Because a lash van uses little water, the tanks can be smaller, which leaves more space for seating and storage. Fill the reservoir through the water inlet, or use water on the spot when you're parked by a tap. Ask your local health authority whether a hand sink is required for your services. The salon van water and power diagram shows the whole system.
How does a lash van stay quiet and comfortable?
A lash client lies still with eyes closed, so the room has to stay warm, calm and quiet. A ProVanWorks lash van has insulation in the walls, roof and floor, which also cuts road and street noise, and heat from a small diesel, gas or electric heater under the seat, moved through pipes in the floor and walls and heat exchangers. A thermostat holds the temperature you set, and the heater runs with the engine off. In summer, the front fan runs the air conditioning. The cold-weather design page explains how it works.
What lighting does a lash van need?
Lash work needs bright, even light with no shadows from your hands or tools. ProVanWorks spaces ceiling lights close together over the bed and adds a lamp over the client's eyes. Windows are optional: leave them out for a fully closed room, or add opening windows with blinds for daylight and fresh air between clients.
How is a lash van ventilated?
Two fans, one at the front of the cargo area and one at the back, move air through a ProVanWorks lash van, which helps clear adhesive fumes between and during appointments. Ask your adhesive maker what ventilation and humidity they recommend, and tell us, so we place the bed where the airflow helps most.
What power does a lash van need?
A lash lamp, a fan for curing adhesive, the lights and the climate system run from the auxiliary battery bank in the utility area. The batteries charge at Level 2 EV chargers through a J1772 inlet, or from shore power through the 50 A inlet (30 A also available) and the 20 A, 120 V inlet. Solar panels and a generator are available as add-ons. Read more about power and EV charging.
Can I pick a ready-designed lash van or have my own built?
Yes, either one. ProVanWorks builds every lash van to your specifications, or you can start from one of our already designed systems and change what you need. We use top-quality products and materials in every build. If you'd rather tow your studio, see our mobile beauty salon trailers.
Frequently asked questions
Can a lash van also be used for brows and nails?
Yes. Many owners combine lashes with brows or nails in one ProVanWorks van. Tell us which services you offer, and we'll plan the stations, lighting, water and seating for all of them.
How private is a mobile lash van?
A ProVanWorks lash van has a closed service room with one client inside. Windows are optional, so the room can be fully closed or have blinds.
Do I need a permit to run a mobile lash business?
Rules vary by province, state and region. Check with your local health authority about personal service rules before you book clients.
How do I get a price for a mobile lash van?
