Mobile grooming vans for Surrey and White Rock
ProVanWorks builds winter-ready mobile grooming vans at our shop in Langley, right on Surrey's eastern edge. Groomers in Surrey, White Rock, Cloverdale, Fleetwood and Newton can drop by while their van is being built, then pick it up and be working in Surrey the same afternoon.
How close is the ProVanWorks shop to Surrey?
Close enough that almost no Surrey groomer needs delivery. Langley and Surrey share a border, so the shop is a short trip along Highway 10, Fraser Highway or Highway 1 from Cloverdale and Fleetwood, and not much further from Newton or South Surrey.
That short trip makes it easy to come out more than once. Plenty of groomers visit to settle the layout, come back partway through to see the tub and table in place, and return for pickup. On pickup day we go through the heater, hot water, pumps and battery charging with you in the van. Email info@provanworks.com to book a visit.
What is winter like on a Surrey grooming route?
Surrey is large enough to have two kinds of winter. South Surrey and White Rock sit on Semiahmoo Bay and often get rain when Cloverdale and the higher ground around Panorama Ridge get snow. When Arctic outflow pushes down the Fraser Valley, the eastern neighbourhoods closest to Langley usually feel the cold wind first and can stay below freezing for days.
A ProVanWorks grooming van is built for both. A small diesel, gas or electric heater under the seat feeds in-floor and in-wall heat around the cargo area, the thermostat holds the temperature you pick, and the hot water keeps running on a −10 °C morning in Cloverdale as well as on a wet, grey day in Crescent Beach. The cold-weather design page goes through how the heat is piped through the van.
Where do Surrey groomers park the van?
Surrey routes mix housing types more than most cities in the region. Newton and Fleetwood have a lot of townhouse complexes, where you park on a narrow strata road and squeeze in beside the visitor stalls. Cloverdale and the rural edge of South Surrey still have acreages with long gravel driveways. White Rock's streets climb steeply up from Marine Drive, and parking near the beach is hard to find on a sunny weekend.
A ProVanWorks van carries its own heat, water and battery power, so you never need to run a hose or cord from the client's home. That is handy in a strata complex where the client has no outdoor plug. Before you book regular stops in a complex, ask the strata about commercial vehicles, and check with the City of Surrey for any street parking limits.
Can a Surrey groomer work a full day without refilling?
Yes, in most cases. Surrey covers a lot of ground, and a day that starts in Guildford and ends in Crescent Beach involves plenty of driving between dogs. The van's large fresh water reservoirs and separate grey water tank are sized for a full day of appointments. The battery bank charges from Level 2 EV chargers, so a lunch stop at a public charger in Guildford or Newton can top it up before the afternoon.
Frequently asked questions
Does a White Rock groomer really need a winterized van?
Yes, mainly for the cold snaps and the wet dogs. White Rock is milder than inland Surrey, but a few days of outflow cold each winter is normal, and a dog fresh from the beach or the trails stays wet and chilled unless the work area is warm. The same van cools in summer too: the front cargo fan doubles as the air conditioning fan, which helps on hot August days by the water.
Can I get a bed liner sprayed while I'm at the Langley shop?
Yes. The Langley shop also sprays bed liners for pickup trucks and work vans, so Surrey truck and van owners can have that done a short drive from home. The same shop does van wraps and wrap design, which means a new grooming van can leave with your business name already on it.
