Custom grooming trailers
Custom mobile grooming trailers, built for winter
ProVanWorks builds custom mobile dog grooming trailers at our shop in Langley, BC, with the same features available as in our grooming vans: insulation, in-floor and in-wall heat, hot water, a water reservoir and grey water tank, air conditioning, and a battery bank that charges at EV stations. Every trailer is customized for the groomer who orders it, and we ship finished trailers across Canada and to the United States.
What is a ProVanWorks grooming trailer?
A ProVanWorks grooming trailer is a towable, self-contained grooming salon. It carries its own heat, water and power, so you can park it at a client's home, unhitch it at a site for the day, or tow it from stop to stop with a truck you already own. Inside, it has the same kind of work area as a ProVanWorks grooming van: a hot water tub, a grooming table, cabinets, a waterproof floor, lights about every 30 cm and a railing at the door to keep dogs inside.
What comes in a ProVanWorks grooming trailer?
Every feature we put in our grooming vans is available in a ProVanWorks trailer. That includes an insulated work area, in-floor and in-wall heat, heat exchangers, a thermostat, two fans with air conditioning on the front fan, hot water that works in very low winter temperatures, a large water reservoir, a grey water tank, an auxiliary battery bank that charges at Level 2 EV chargers, cabinets, a waterproof floor and a door railing. Solar panels, side covers (awnings) and opening windows are available as add-ons.
Features available in every ProVanWorks trailer
-
In-floor and in-wall heat
A diesel, gas or electric heater warms fluid that runs through pipes in the floor and walls, plus heat exchangers around the work area, so the whole trailer warms evenly.
How the heating works: In-floor and in-wall heat -
Hot water in deep cold
Hot water at the tub in very low winter temperatures, with the water reservoir kept inside the insulated, heated trailer.
The water system: Hot water in deep cold -
Large fresh and grey tanks
A large water reservoir for a full day of work, and a separate grey water tank so nothing drains onto a client's driveway.
Tanks and grey water: Large fresh and grey tanks -
Batteries that charge at EV stations
An auxiliary battery bank runs your equipment and lights, and tops up from the same Level 2 chargers electric cars use.
Power and EV charging: Batteries that charge at EV stations -
Thermostat, fans and A/C
A thermostat holds the temperature you set. Two fans move air front and back, and the front fan also runs the air conditioning for summer.
Heating and cooling: Thermostat, fans and A/C -
Lights every 30 cm
Lights run along the ceiling about every 30 cm (1 ft), so there are no shadows on the dog while you scissor and trim.
How the layout works: Lights every 30 cm -
Waterproof floor and cabinets
A waterproof floor handles bath water, snow and slush. Cabinets in the trailer keep shampoo, tools and towels in reach.
How the layout works: Waterproof floor and cabinets -
Door railing and windows
A railing at the door keeps dogs inside when the door is open. Optional windows bring in daylight and open for fresh air.

How does a grooming trailer stay warm in a Canadian winter?
A ProVanWorks grooming trailer stays warm the same way our vans do: insulation in the walls, roof and floor, and heat that comes through pipes in the floor and walls plus heat exchangers around the work area. A thermostat holds the temperature you set. Insulation thickness is matched to your climate: about 16 mm (5/8 inch) for the Lower Mainland, and much thicker for Northern BC, the Prairies and Eastern Canada. The heater can be diesel, gas or electric, and we decide where it is mounted when we lay out your trailer. The cold-weather design page explains the heating system in detail.
Should I choose a grooming trailer or a grooming van?
Choose a grooming trailer if you already own a truck that can tow it, or if you want to leave the salon at one site for the day and use the truck for other things. Choose a grooming van if you mostly do house calls on tight residential streets, where one vehicle is easier to park and turn. ProVanWorks builds both, so we'll help you decide based on your routes, your clients and the vehicle you have. The table below sets out the main differences.
| Grooming van | Grooming trailer | Storefront salon | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Parking at a client's home | One vehicle, fits a driveway or a single street spot | Tow vehicle plus trailer, needs more room to park and turn | Clients come to you |
| Driving in snow | One vehicle on winter tires | Towing on ice needs more care and longer stopping distances | No driving |
| Leaving it on site | The van goes wherever you go | Unhitch it at a market, clinic day or event and use the tow vehicle for other jobs | Fixed location |
| If you already own a truck | You buy or supply a van | Your truck can tow it, if it is rated for the trailer's weight | Not applicable |
| Heat, water and power | Built in by ProVanWorks | Built in by ProVanWorks, with the same features available | Building heat and plumbing |
| Fixed costs | Van, fuel, insurance | Trailer, insurance, plus a tow vehicle | Lease, utilities, front-desk staff |
What do I need to tow a grooming trailer?
You need a tow vehicle rated for the trailer's loaded weight, with the right hitch and a brake controller if the trailer has electric brakes. A grooming trailer gets heavy once the water reservoir is full, so check the loaded weight against your truck's towing capacity, not the empty weight. Licence requirements and trailer brake rules depend on the trailer's weight and your province, so check with your provincial licensing office before you buy. ProVanWorks builds trailers to any size, so tell us your tow vehicle and we'll size the trailer and its tanks to suit it.
If your truck bed takes a beating, the same Langley shop can spray a bed liner on it while you're here.
Can a grooming trailer be customized?
Yes. Every ProVanWorks grooming trailer is built for the groomer who orders it. The layout, tub and table placement, cabinets, heater, tank sizes, battery bank, insulation thickness and add-ons are all chosen around how you groom and where. Tell us the breeds you see most and how many dogs you groom in a day. Read how we build for the steps.
How much does a grooming trailer cost?
ProVanWorks quotes every grooming trailer individually because each one is built to order. The price depends on the trailer size, the heater, tank sizes, the battery bank, insulation and add-ons such as solar and side covers.
