Custom work trailers
Custom work trailers for mobile businesses
ProVanWorks builds custom work trailers at our shop in Langley, BC, for mobile groomers, beauty and spa services, doctors and vets. Every trailer is customized for the business that orders it, and the same features available in our vans are available in our trailers: insulation, in-floor and in-wall heat, air conditioning, hot water, water and grey water tanks, and batteries that charge at EV stations.
Which businesses does ProVanWorks build trailers for?
ProVanWorks builds work trailers for the same businesses we build vans for:
- Dog grooming. A full grooming salon with a hot water tub, table and door railing. See mobile grooming trailers.
- Beauty and spa. Nail, eyelash, hair styling and massage services for women and men, with a seating area for the client and a work area. See beauty and spa vans for the layout ideas, which carry over to a trailer.
- Doctors and clinics. An exam and consultation space for house calls, rural communities and workplace clinics. See mobile medical clinics.
- Mobile vets. An exam area with heat, water and a waterproof floor. See mobile vet vans.
If your business isn't on the list, email info@provanworks.com and tell us what the work area needs.
What features come in a ProVanWorks work trailer?
Every feature available in a ProVanWorks van is available in a ProVanWorks work trailer, and each trailer is fitted out for its business. The cards below list the systems we build in.
Features available in every ProVanWorks trailer
-
In-floor and in-wall heat
A diesel, gas or electric heater warms fluid that runs through pipes in the floor and walls, plus heat exchangers around the work area, so the whole trailer warms evenly.
How the heating works: In-floor and in-wall heat -
Hot water in deep cold
Hot water at the tub in very low winter temperatures, with the water reservoir kept inside the insulated, heated trailer.
The water system: Hot water in deep cold -
Large fresh and grey tanks
A large water reservoir for a full day of work, and a separate grey water tank so nothing drains onto a client's driveway.
Tanks and grey water: Large fresh and grey tanks -
Batteries that charge at EV stations
An auxiliary battery bank runs your equipment and lights, and tops up from the same Level 2 chargers electric cars use.
Power and EV charging: Batteries that charge at EV stations -
Thermostat, fans and A/C
A thermostat holds the temperature you set. Two fans move air front and back, and the front fan also runs the air conditioning for summer.
Heating and cooling: Thermostat, fans and A/C -
Lights every 30 cm
Lights run along the ceiling about every 30 cm (1 ft), so there are no shadows on the dog while you scissor and trim.
How the layout works: Lights every 30 cm -
Waterproof floor and cabinets
A waterproof floor handles bath water, snow and slush. Cabinets in the trailer keep shampoo, tools and towels in reach.
How the layout works: Waterproof floor and cabinets -
Door railing and windows
A railing at the door keeps dogs inside when the door is open. Optional windows bring in daylight and open for fresh air.

Why choose a trailer instead of a van?
A work trailer suits a business that already owns a capable truck, or one that sets up at a single site for the day. You can unhitch the trailer at a market, a seniors' residence, a clinic day or an event, run it on its own heat, water and power, and use the truck for other jobs. A van suits a business that moves between many stops a day on residential streets. ProVanWorks builds both, so the choice comes down to how your days run. The grooming trailer page compares the two side by side.
Why run a business from a trailer instead of renting a storefront?
A ProVanWorks work trailer lets you take the business to your clients instead of paying rent, utilities and a lease on a storefront. You pay for the build once, then your running costs are insurance, maintenance and charging or fuel. Compare a build quote with what a storefront lease would cost you over the same years before deciding.
How cold can a ProVanWorks trailer work?
ProVanWorks trailers are insulated and heated for Canadian winters. Insulation is about 16 mm (5/8 inch) for the Lower Mainland, and much thicker for Northern BC, the Prairies and Eastern Canada. Heat comes through pipes in the floor and walls plus heat exchangers, and a thermostat holds the temperature you set. The heater can be diesel, gas or electric, and where it is mounted is decided for each trailer. The cold-weather design page explains the system.
Frequently asked questions
Does ProVanWorks build custom trailers as well as vans?
Yes. ProVanWorks builds custom work trailers with the same features available as in its vans, for grooming, beauty and spa, medical and vet businesses.
Can a work trailer be wrapped with my business name?
Yes. ProVanWorks designs and installs wraps at the Langley shop, so a trailer can leave with your branding already on it.
How do I get a price on a work trailer?
Email info@provanworks.com with your type of business, how many clients use the trailer at once, the truck you'll tow with, and where you work. Every trailer is custom-built to any size and quoted individually.
