Van roof fan and A/C installs for North Vancouver
ProVanWorks installs roof vent fans, rooftop A/C and battery-powered A/C in vans from North Vancouver and West Vancouver at our shop in Langley, over the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge and east on Highway 1. We fit them to camper vans, work vans and grooming vans from other builders, and most vans are at the shop for 1 to 2 days.
How far is the ProVanWorks shop from North Vancouver?
The drive from the North Shore to the Langley shop starts with a bridge over Burrard Inlet. Most North Vancouver van owners take the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge and Highway 1 east through Burnaby. From West Vancouver, the Lions Gate Bridge through downtown is the other option, though the Ironworkers is usually more direct. Traffic backs up at both bridges at rush hour, so a midday drop-off and pickup is easier.
Why do North Vancouver vans need a roof fan or A/C?
North Shore vans spend a lot of time parked where they cannot be moved into shade. Trades vans sit at the curb on steep streets in Lynn Valley or the British Properties for the whole job, and on a summer day the sun is on the roof from morning to evening. Weekend vans sit in trailhead parking at Lynn Canyon, Mount Seymour or the Capilano trails for hours. A closed metal van gets much hotter inside than the air outside, and a roof fan is the simplest way to vent that heat. A mobile groomer parked below a West Vancouver house on a hot afternoon needs A/C that runs from the batteries with the engine off.
The North Shore's wet season is long, and the rain is heavier against the mountains. After a ski day at Cypress, Grouse or Seymour, or a muddy ride on the trails, wet gear goes into the van and the moisture condenses on the cold roof. A roof vent fan pushes that damp air out before it settles in the insulation and behind the panels.
What does a North Vancouver camper van need for Sea to Sky trips?
North Shore campers are close to the Sea to Sky Highway, which runs from Horseshoe Bay up to Squamish and Whistler. On those trips a van often spends the night at a campsite without hookups. A roof vent fan moves air through the van overnight on very little power. Battery-powered A/C can cool the van with the engine off, for as long as the battery bank can supply it, while a rooftop unit suits campsites with shore power. Read how to choose between rooftop and battery-powered A/C before you decide.
How much does a fan or A/C install cost for a North Vancouver van?
ProVanWorks quotes each install by email, because the price depends on the unit, the roof and the wiring the van needs. Email info@provanworks.com with the year, make and model, the roof height, photos of the roof and ceiling, what you want installed and what batteries the van has.
Frequently asked questions
Can you install A/C in a North Shore grooming van from another builder?
Yes. ProVanWorks installs fans and A/C in grooming vans, camper conversions and work vans from any builder. For a new van, every ProVanWorks grooming van for the North Shore has two fans in the cargo area, one at the front and one at the back, and the front fan also runs the air conditioning.
Can I get a liner or wrap done on the same trip?
Yes. The Langley shop sprays bed liners for North Vancouver trucks and floor liners for work vans, and designs and installs van wraps. Ask for everything in one quote and save a second trip over the bridge.
