# Van roof fan and A/C installs for Richmond

ProVanWorks installs roof vent fans, rooftop A/C and battery-powered A/C in vans from Richmond and Steveston at our shop in Langley. We fit them to camper vans, delivery and work vans, and grooming vans from other builders, and most vans are at the shop for 1 to 2 days.

## How far is the ProVanWorks shop from Richmond?

Every drive from Richmond to Langley leaves the island by bridge or tunnel. The usual routes are the Alex Fraser Bridge from Highway 91, or the George Massey Tunnel on Highway 99, then east on the South Fraser Perimeter Road or Highway 10. The tunnel backs up at rush hour, so Richmond van owners usually drop the van off and pick it up in the middle of the day.

## Why do Richmond vans need a roof fan or A/C?

Richmond is cooler in summer than the inland cities, but a van parked in the sun still heats up fast. Delivery and service vans spend the day on open warehouse lots and loading areas near the airport and along the river, where there is no shade. Groomers and trades in the condo areas along No. 3 Road usually park at the curb or in a surface lot, because tower parkades are too low for a high-roof van. A closed metal van in that sun gets much hotter inside than the air outside.

A roof fan is the simple fix for a work van: it vents the heat so stock, tools and the driver are not cooking. A mobile groomer running a dryer on a warm afternoon in Steveston or Terra Nova needs A/C that runs from the batteries with the engine off. A camper van that stays at campsites with hookups may suit a rooftop unit. ## Why does a Richmond van get so much condensation?

Richmond sits at sea level, surrounded by water, and it gets rain far more often than snow. Through the wet season the air is damp almost every day, and a van that carries wet people, wet dogs or wet gear adds more moisture inside. That moisture condenses on the cold metal roof and windows, and in a van that never quite dries out between rainy days it ends up in the insulation and behind the panels, where it causes mould and rust. A roof vent fan pushes the moist air out of the van, so in Richmond a fan earns its place in winter as much as in summer.

## How much does a fan or A/C install cost for a Richmond van?

ProVanWorks quotes each install by email, because the price depends on the unit, the roof and the wiring the van needs. Email info@provanworks.com with the year, make and model, the roof height, photos of the roof and ceiling, what you want installed and what batteries the van has.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can you add A/C to a Richmond grooming van from another builder?

Yes. ProVanWorks installs fans and A/C in grooming vans, camper conversions and work vans from any builder. If you are looking at a new van, every [ProVanWorks grooming van for Richmond](/mobile-grooming-vans/richmond/) comes with two fans in the cargo area, and the front fan also runs the air conditioning on the same thermostat as the heat.

### Can I get a floor liner or wrap on the same trip?

Yes. The Langley shop sprays [floor liners for work vans](/spray-on-bed-liners/work-vans/) and [bed liners for Richmond trucks](/spray-on-bed-liners/richmond/), and designs and installs [van wraps](/van-wraps/). Booking them together saves a second drive through the tunnel or over the bridge.
