<!-- Drawing: Side cutaway of a high-roof van set up for a hair stylist. The back half is a closed service room with a styling chair facing a wall mirror and a shampoo bowl with hot water from the reservoir that drains to a grey water tank under the floor, and the front half by the side door holds customer seating and a cabinet. A battery bank in the utility area at the very back runs the dryers and tools, while two fans, close-set ceiling lights and heat in the floor and walls keep the room comfortable. A strip along the bottom shows the standard hookups on every van and trailer, which can be changed for each build: a water inlet to fill the reservoir or use water on the spot, a grey water outlet opened with an electric switch, a J1772 EV charging inlet, a 50 A power inlet (30 A also available) and a 20 A, 120 V inlet. -->

# Mobile salon vans in New Brunswick

ProVanWorks builds mobile salon vans in Langley, BC, and delivers them to stylists, nail technicians and lash artists across New Brunswick. It is Canada's only officially bilingual province, and its cities are small with a lot of countryside between them, so a salon van here serves clients in French and English and covers long rural roads between towns.

## How does the climate change across New Brunswick?

New Brunswick packs three climates into one province. The Bay of Fundy coast around Saint John is foggy, with milder winters and cool summers. Inland, around Fredericton and up the Saint John River valley, winters are colder and drier, and January nights often drop below −20 °C. The north, from Edmundston to the Acadian Peninsula and Miramichi, gets the deepest snow and the longest winters. Freezing rain and nor'easters can reach any part of the province, the roads are heavily salted, and summers are warm, humid inland.

Every ProVanWorks salon van is insulated for where it will work, and a New Brunswick build gets much thicker insulation in the walls, roof and floor than the 16 mm (5/8 inch) we use in the Lower Mainland. A small diesel, gas or electric heater under the seat sends heat through pipes in the floor and walls, heat exchangers spread it, and a thermostat sets the temperature. The heater runs with the engine off. Warm floors matter to pedicure clients, warm water at the shampoo bowl matters to hair clients, and in summer the front fan runs the air conditioning.

## Which New Brunswick cities have salon van pages?

- [Moncton](/mobile-salon-vans/moncton/), with Dieppe and Riverview: a bilingual metro with a large Acadian community and the Northumberland Strait beaches a short drive away.
- [Fredericton](/mobile-salon-vans/fredericton/): the capital, inland on the Saint John River, with colder winters and two universities.

Saint John, Edmundston, Bathurst, Miramichi and the Acadian Peninsula don't have their own pages yet, but ProVanWorks delivers salon vans anywhere in the province.

## Where do mobile salons work in New Brunswick?

Outside the larger cities, many New Brunswickers live in small towns and rural areas far from a salon, which is where a van earns its place. A salon van can serve:

- Seniors' residences and home-care clients in towns without a salon nearby.
- Families in commuter towns around Moncton, Fredericton and Saint John.
- Wedding parties at country venues, on the Fundy shore and along the coast.
- Summer visitors at the beaches of Shediac and the Acadian coast, and in Fundy resort towns such as St. Andrews.
- Workplaces and campuses in the cities during the week.

Clients may ask for service in French or English, especially in the southeast and the north, so plan your van lettering, booking messages and price list for both. Check with your municipality about parking and setting up a salon van on the street or in a lot. For markets and summer festivals, a [mobile beauty salon trailer](/custom-work-trailers/beauty-salon-trailer/) is another option.

## What water and power setup suits a New Brunswick salon van?

A [mobile hair salon van](/mobile-salon-vans/hair-salon-van/) carries a shampoo bowl with hot water and a hand-wash sink, and a nail van adds a pedicure basin. The fresh water reservoir and grey water tank are sized for each build around your busiest day. Because the plumbing runs inside the heated room, hot water keeps flowing in a northern New Brunswick winter.

The auxiliary battery bank charges at Level 2 EV chargers through a J1772 inlet, or from shore power through the 50 A inlet (30 A also available) or the 20 A, 120 V inlet. Long rural routes favour a generator, and solar panels suit a van parked at one site all day; both are add-ons. Dryers and hot tools need high-amp inverters, also an add-on.

## What rules apply to mobile salons in New Brunswick?

Check with your provincial public health inspectors about the rules for hair, nail and lash services offered from a vehicle, and with your municipality about parking and permits. Rules can change, so ask before you order, and tell us about any fixture the rules require.

## How does a salon van get to New Brunswick from Langley?

New Brunswick is more than 5,500 km from the Langley shop by road. The van takes the Trans-Canada across the Prairies and northern Ontario, crosses Quebec along the St. Lawrence to Rivière-du-Loup, and enters New Brunswick at Edmundston. From there, Fredericton is about 5,500 km from Langley and Moncton about 5,600 km. ProVanWorks drives the van, ships it on a vehicle transport carrier, or you pick it up in Langley. Delivery is quoted per build; read [delivery across Canada](/delivery-across-canada/).

Every salon van is built to the customer's own specifications or from one of ProVanWorks' already designed systems, changed to suit you. See all the layouts on the [mobile salon vans](/mobile-salon-vans/) page.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can my salon van be lettered in French and English?

Yes. ProVanWorks designs and installs [van wraps](/van-wraps/) at the Langley shop, so the van can leave with bilingual lettering already on.

### Can one salon van cover a city and rural New Brunswick?

Yes. A ProVanWorks salon van carries its own water, heat and battery power, so it works the same in a rural driveway as in a city lot. For long days far from an outlet, add a generator or a larger battery bank.
