<!-- Drawing: Side cutaway of a heated, insulated high-roof van set up for eyelash extensions. In the service room in the back half, the client lies back with eyes closed on a padded reclining lash bed while the technician sits on a stool at the client's head under a lamp on an arm, next to a small rolling cart with tweezers and lash trays, a sink with running hot water and a window closed behind a privacy blind. The front half by the side door has customer seating, a cabinet and the thermostat, two fans and close-set lights run along the ceiling, and the battery bank and water sit in the utility area at the back. A strip along the bottom shows the standard hookups on every van and trailer, which can be changed for each build: a water inlet to fill the reservoir or use water on the spot, a grey water outlet opened with an electric switch, a J1772 EV charging inlet, a 50 A power inlet (30 A also available) and a 20 A, 120 V inlet. -->

# Mobile salon vans for Laval

ProVanWorks builds mobile salon vans for lashes, nails and hair at our shop in Langley, BC, and delivers them to Laval, about 4,800 km from the shop. Laval sits on its own island just north of Montreal, and most of its homes are houses and townhouses with a driveway, so a salon van can usually park right at the client's door.

## How cold does a Laval winter get for a salon van?

Laval shares the Montreal-area winter: around 2 m of snow in a typical season, cold snaps below −25 °C and the occasional ice storm that coats the van and the driveway alike. A ProVanWorks salon van built for Laval has insulation in the walls, roof and floor, much thicker than the about 16 mm (5/8 inch) used near our shop. A small diesel, gas or electric heater under the seat warms pipes in the floor and walls, heat exchangers move that heat around the room, and the thermostat holds it while the engine is off.

That heat matters most for clients who stay still. A lash client may lie on the bed for two hours, and a pedicure client sits with bare feet on the floor, so the floor has to be warm, not just the air. Summers in Laval are hot and sticky, and the front fan in the cargo area then runs the air conditioning.

## Where do mobile salons find clients in Laval?

Driveway neighbourhoods such as Chomedey, Sainte-Dorothée, Vimont, Auteuil and Duvernay are the easy part of a Laval route: park, open the side door and start. Newer condo towers around the Montmorency metro and the downtown area bring clients without a driveway, so plan where you will stop before you book. Laval has many seniors' residences, and residents who no longer drive to a salon are glad to have one come to them. In the east end, around Saint-François, farmland spreads homes farther apart, which suits a van that carries its own water and power.

Many Laval stylists and technicians also cross the bridges to clients in Montreal or on the North Shore, so check traffic on Autoroutes 13, 15 and 25 before you plan a day on both sides. Laval has its own winter parking and snow removal rules: check with the City of Laval about parking a salon van on the street and setting up.

## What water and power setup suits a Laval salon van?

In summer, a client with a driveway may let you fill the reservoir from the garden hose. From late fall to spring, most outdoor taps are shut off, so fill the fresh water reservoir through the water inlet before you head out. The reservoir feeds hot water to a shampoo bowl, pedicure basin or hand-wash sink, and the drains run to a grey water tank the same size as or larger than the reservoir, with both tanks sized for your build.

In a Laval van, the auxiliary battery bank charges at Level 2 EV chargers (J1772) or from shore power through the 50 A inlet (30 A also available) or the 20 A, 120 V inlet. Where a client agrees, the 20 A inlet can plug into a garage outlet to top up the batteries during a long appointment. A generator is an add-on for events on farm properties in the east end, and solar panels are available too. The [lash van](/mobile-salon-vans/lash-van/) page explains why a lash studio needs far less water than a hair or nail van.

## What rules apply to a mobile salon in Laval?

Check with your municipality, the City of Laval, and with your regional public health office before you book clients. If you also work in Montreal or on the North Shore, check with each municipality you work in.

## How does a salon van get from Langley to Laval?

Laval is about 4,800 km from Langley by road: the Trans-Canada east over the Coquihalla and Rogers Pass, across the Prairies and around Lake Superior to Ottawa, then Highway 417 and Autoroute 40 toward Montreal and north across the Rivière des Prairies. ProVanWorks can drive it to Laval, ship it on a vehicle transport carrier, or you can collect it in Langley, with delivery priced in your quote. Read about [delivery across Canada](/delivery-across-canada/), and see our [Montreal salon van](/mobile-salon-vans/montreal/) page for work on the other side of the river.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I choose my own layout for a Laval salon van?

Yes. ProVanWorks builds to your specifications, or you can start from one of our already designed systems and change what you need. See all our [mobile salon vans](/mobile-salon-vans/). If you work a whole day at a market or a festival, a [mobile beauty salon trailer](/custom-work-trailers/beauty-salon-trailer/) can stay set up in one spot.

### Can one salon van serve Laval, Montreal and the North Shore?

Yes. A ProVanWorks salon van carries its own heat, water and power, so it works the same on either side of the bridges. Group clients by area and leave time for rush hour on the crossings.

### How do I get a price for a salon van delivered to Laval?

Email info@provanworks.com with the services you offer, whether you need hair washing or a pedicure basin, what you plug in and the areas you cover. We answer with a proposed layout and a quote, delivery included.
