# Mobile grooming vans for Seattle and Western Washington

ProVanWorks builds mobile dog grooming vans and grooming trailers in Langley, British Columbia, minutes from the border crossing into Lynden, Washington. The shop is about 45 minutes from Bellingham and roughly two hours from downtown Seattle, plus the border wait. We build for groomers across Western Washington, from Bellingham and Mount Vernon through Everett, Seattle, Bellevue and Tacoma to Olympia.

## What does a Seattle winter ask of a grooming van?

A Seattle winter is wet first and cold second, the same pattern we build for every day in Vancouver, about 140 miles (225 km) north by road. From November to March most dogs arrive damp and muddy, so a Seattle grooming van needs a large water reservoir for longer rinses, a separate gray water tank, and a waterproof floor that takes mud and drips.

Cold snaps still come. A few times most winters, temperatures drop into the 20s °F (around −5 °C) and snow or ice shuts down the steep streets of Queen Anne, Capitol Hill and West Seattle. A ProVanWorks van is insulated, and heat comes through pipes in the floor and walls plus heat exchangers around the work area, from a small diesel, gas or electric heater under the seat. The water reservoir and batteries sit in a utility area inside the heated van, and hot water keeps working at the tub in very low temperatures. For Western Washington we use about 5/8 inch (16 mm) of insulation, the same as our Lower Mainland vans, which also cuts road noise. The [cold-weather design](/mobile-grooming-vans/cold-weather-design/) page explains the system.

Summer matters too. A closed van with a dryer running gets hot on an August afternoon in Kent or Puyallup. Two fans move air through the van, and the front fan also runs the [air conditioning](/van-fan-and-ac-installation/).

## Can Seattle-area groomers pick up a van at the shop?

Yes. Our Langley shop is a short drive from the Aldergrove crossing into Lynden, and Bellingham is about 45 minutes away. Groomers from Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish and King counties can visit the shop, stand inside a van being built, and drive the finished van home. Email info@provanworks.com to book a visit. If you'd rather not make the trip, ask about delivery when you request a quote. We'll walk you through the border paperwork when you order.

## Where do you park a grooming van in Seattle?

Most Seattle appointments mean street parking. A grooming van with standing room inside is too tall for most underground garages, so plan routes around neighborhoods where you can park at the curb near the client's door. Many Seattle neighborhoods are Restricted Parking Zones, so check the City of Seattle's rules before booking regular stops there. Suburbs like Bothell, Issaquah, Lynnwood and Federal Way usually have driveways, which makes parking easier.

A ProVanWorks van carries its own heat, batteries and water, so you never run a cord or hose into a client's house or apartment.

## Should a Seattle groomer get a van or a trailer?

A grooming van suits house calls on tight city streets in Ballard, Fremont or Beacon Hill. A [grooming trailer](/mobile-grooming-trailers/) suits groomers east of Lake Washington or out in the suburbs who already own a truck, or who set up at one site for the day. ProVanWorks builds both, with the same features available in each.

## Can I charge the van's batteries at Seattle EV chargers?

Yes. The auxiliary battery bank in a ProVanWorks grooming van charges from Level 2 EV chargers, which are common across the Seattle area at grocery stores, parking garages, community centers and public lots. A lunch stop near a charger tops up the batteries for the afternoon. Solar panels are available as an add-on, though Seattle's gray winter days make EV charging the main way to top up from November to February. See [power and EV charging](/mobile-grooming-vans/power-and-ev-charging/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Where can I empty gray water from a grooming van in Seattle?
